April 11-15               N.C. Azalea Festival, Wilmington

Azalea Festival LogoWilmington has been celebrating Spring Southern Style since 1948. There’s something for everyone among their community’s rich array of artwork, gardens, history and culture. This will be the 71st annual festival and is considered one of the top events in the Southeast.

April 28-29
                     Days at the Docks Festival, Holden Beach

The annual festival occurs in April or May and is sponsored by the Greater Holden Beach Merchants Association. It’s the Holden Beach way to kick-off the Spring and start the vacation season. In addition to the food and arts & crafts, enjoy live music & entertainment, a horseshoe tournament and the world famous “Bopple Race”. Lots of activities for the entire family!

May 19-20                  Blue Crab Festival, Little River SC

This will be the 37th Annual World Famous Blue Crab Festival. It is held on the waterfront in Little River and is one of the largest festivals in the Southeast. The purpose of this festival is one that supports and showcases the fabulous atmosphere of the local communities.

June 30                           Riverfest Celebration, Conway SC

Conway Riverfest - CRHeld along the Waccamaw River in downtown Conway the festival celebrates Independence Day with music and events for the entire family.

July 2-4                             N.C. 4th of July Festival, Southport

4th of July Southport - CR 190The patriotic spirit of America is alive and well in the City of Southport. For over 200 years this small maritime community has celebrated our nation’s independence in a big way. Incorporated as the N.C. 4th of July Festival in 1972 the festival committee strives to keep the focus of the festival on honoring our nation’s birthday with a little fun thrown in.

July 4                                Battleship Blast 4th of July Celebration, Wilmington

Annual 4th of July Celebration at Riverfront Park in downtown Wilmington. Featured entertainment will perform from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by fireworks at 9:05 PM launched from a barge in the Cape Fear River adjacent to the USS North Carolina Battleship. The only place you need to be this holiday is downtown Wilmington for the best view of fireworks.

Fall

September 15          Run Holden Beach, Holden Beach

 
The fifth annual event includes three races –
Half Marathon         – 6:30 AM
5K                                  – 7:00 AM
1 Mile Turtle Trot    – 8:00 AM
.

The races will be followed by a BIG all Family Friendly after party at the Holden Beach Pavilion. All of the proceeds from the one (1) mile Turtle Trot will be donated to the Holden Beach Turtle Patrol.

October 4-6              U.S. Open King Mackerel Fishing Tournament, Southport

King Mackerel Tournament - CRThirty-nine (39) years ago a small group of community leaders met and decided that they needed an event to showcase the great fall fishing Southport-Oak Island area has to offer. The prizes and expenses for the first tournament were guaranteed by those community leaders signing a promissory note at a local financial institution – thus the U.S. Open King Mackerel Tournament was born. The U.S. Open King Mackerel Tournament now attracts almost 400 boats annually and is held in high esteem by the community and anglers.

October 5-7               Riverfest, Wilmington

Riverfest - CRWilmington’s Riverfest is celebrated in October and runs from the foot of Market Street to Cape Fear Community College over a half mile of free family entertainment. Riverfest began in 1979 and is now a three-day event.

October 20-21                 N.C. Oyster Festival, Ocean Isle Beach

Oyster Festival Logo - CRThis is the thirty-eighth (38th) annual North Carolina Oyster Festival. The coastal waters of Brunswick County provide an abundance of the marine mollusks each year bringing over 30,000 people to Ocean Isle Beach to celebrate the tasty treat. The beach center becomes a walking district that offers something for everyone: local cuisine, arts and crafts, children’s activities, live music, Oyster Stew Cook-off and the Oyster Shucking Contest.

October 27-28                 N.C. Festival by the Sea, Holden Beach
Fest by the Sea - CRHosted by the Holden Beach Merchants Association this two day festival occurs on the last full weekend in October. This two day event is kicked off with a parade down the Holden Beach causeway. There is a fishing tournament, horseshoe tournament, and a sandcastle building contest. Vendors provide food, arts and crafts, amusement rides and other activities. There is live musical entertainment both days at the Holden Beach’s Pavilion.
